Windy City Rollers at the Walk & Roll
10. June 2016 03:23
Last Saturday, some of the Windy City Rollers, along with skaters from Derby Lite, the DuPage Derby Dames, Chicago Red Hots, and others participated in the American Cancer Society Walk & Roll. The annual Walk & Roll event brings together thousands of people for a 5K walk, 10K skate, or 15K bike ride. Beginning in Chicago in 1971, the Walk & Roll raises funds to support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving work in research, education, advocacy, and patient services.
The Windy City Rollers nearly doubled this year’s goal of $1,000 by raising $1,870, with our Oval Team staff member Joe Klug leading the league with $270 raised. Even more impressive, Derby Lite and Friends have raised a total of $200,000 in the past nine years toward the fight against cancer.
Thanks to all of our generous donors. There’s still time to donate if you haven’t yet had a chance. We encourage you to make a tax-deductible donation to the WCR team to help us further exceed our fundraising goal.
