What's in a skater's bag?

Ever wonder what derby girls haul around in their skate bags? All they need is skates and pads right? Well, let's take a peek into a skater bag to find out what kinds of things are necessary for this sport. Check out the contents of Polly's bag...
Utility cord makes a great alternative to regular skate laces. (Much more durable.)
A variety of tape and bandaids is essential to keep blisters at bay. (Duct tape is a cheap protective layer over regular bandages...a trick learned from hikers.)
It's a good idea to mark separate alcohol bottles to distinguish them between "first aid" and "wheel cleaning."
Pads - can't live without them!
Helmet - another essential!
Gear gets super sweaty. Disinfecting sprays are great to spray down gear in between washings.
It's good to have different options for extra calories. Long scrimmages, bouts, and practices require an extra boost.
