The biggest event this weekend has to offer is no doubt the Men’s Roller Derby World Cup. Lex has already put together a preview of the teams at this event – check it out HERE.
Meanwhile, in WFTDA play, the season is still revving up for the organization’s highest ranked teams. There is however a lot of moment in Division 2 is likely to affect how a number of teams stack up in the mid-May rankings.

Killamazoo vs Queen City and Toronto
WFTDA #47 Killamazoo has a big weekend, with back-to-back games against #52 Queen City on Saturday and #29 Toronto on Sunday. When Killamazoo and Queen City faced off last August, Killamazoo came away with a narrow win, 209-194. Flat Track Stats has given K-Zoo a 59% chance of winning this game, but the predicted score is tight, with Queen City expected to score 10 points for every 11 the visitors score. Taking on Toronto the following day will be a tough task, particularly if Toronto’s rapid climb up the rankings continues. Toronto flew from WFTDA #49 in February 2013 to its current placing at #29, and Killamazoo has only been given a 2% chance of beating the home side.
Blue Ridge vs Lowcountry Highrollers
Blue Ridge Rollergirls, who were third at Division 2 Championships, are currently sitting at WFTDA #51. Just last month they narrowly lost to #56 Gold Coast Derby Girls, and will be looking to improve their ranking score when they take on #87 Lowcountry Highrollers at home. These teams haven’t faced off since 2009, when Blue Ridge came away with a 127-54 win. As for this weekend’s game, Flat Track Stats gives Blue Ridge a 94% chance of winning over the Highrollers.
Naptown vs Cincinnati
WFTDA #38 Cincinnati is turning out to be one of the more interesting teams to watch this season, and unfortunately not for any positive reasons. After losing to #56 Demolition City earlier in the season, five of the team’s veterans left the team. Just last weekend, a roster-depleted Cinci lost to both #39 Nashville (291-124) and #53 Brandywine (217-104). #12 Naptown’s only recorded games for the year are two solid wins against #41 Bleeding Heartland and a 13-point loss against Ka-Boom, a Midwest all-star pickup team featuring Windy City’s Bork Bork Bork and Detroit’s Racer McChaseHer. Even going off just Flat Track Stats, Naptown has a 99% chance of winning; given Cincinnati’s recent record, a win for Naptown seems even more certain. This is likely to be very good for Naptown; WFTDA’s rankings in no way reflect Cincinnati’s current strength, and just matching the FTS score prediction would give Naptown a game rating 30% above their current average and just under the current average rating for #2 Bay Area.
