Texas Rollergirls “TX by TX” Bout!

FOLLOW:

The Texas Rollergirls are proud to announce a special Flat Track Derby bout at the Austin Music Hall on March 18! Not only will fans be treated to a healthy taste of Flat Track action by the beloved hometown Texas Rollergirls, we’re laying down our track and throwing five other Flat Track Derby leagues into the mix – this is your chance to witness the first-ever meeting of every Texas-based Flat Track Derby league, and all that Texas spirit under one roof!

The event kicks off with skaters from the Dallas-based Assassination City Derby and the Dallas Derby Devils going helmet-to-helmet, followed by the Texas Rollergirls Hustlers v. Hell Marys. The winners of each bout will then challenge each other for the TX by TX crown! Also making special appearances will be Houston Roller Derby (Houston, TX), the Alamo City Rollergirls (San Antonio, TX), and the East Texas Bombers (Tyler, TX).

Of course a Flat Track Derby bout wouldn’t be complete without live music to rock out the occasion, so the Texas Rollergirls are thrilled to welcome The Spits from Seattle as very special musical guests to open up the action. The legendary Martha Davis and The Motels will close out the show after a TX by TX winner has been proclaimed.

In keeping with the tradition of supporting local musicians and the local music industry, our featured Spotlight Charities on March 18 are the Austin Music Foundation (AMF) — a nonprofit organization that facilitates the creative, professional and financial growth of local musicians, and Anthropos Arts, which works to bring top-notch professional musicians and artists into Austin area Title I public schools to lead economically disadvantaged students through a comprehensive music program of concerts, workshops, master classes, and lessons.

Austin Music Hall doors open to fans at 1:30 p.m. on March 18 ( which just so happens to be the same weekend as the South by Southwest Music Festival). Advance tickets on sale now for $10 ea. at Cheapo Discs, Beerland, Playland Skate Center or online at www.txrollergirls.com. A limited number of tickets will also be held and available for $12 ea. at the door. For more information, please visit www.txrollergirls.com.
