The long awaited opening game of Tier 1 UKRDA Premier for the Women’s British Roller Derby Championships is Glasgow Roller Derby vs Central City RollerGirls.
Currently ranked 4th in Europe and 2nd in UKRDA, Glasgow won 5 out of 8 games in 2014, including a victory over fellow Premier tier Middlesbrough and three victories across the pond in the Spring Roll tournament. Their last game was a 249-82 victory over Dublin in November.
Currently ranked 18th in Europe and 7th in UKRDA, Central City won 6 out of 13 games in in a busy 2014, with victories over Croydon, Hot Wheel and London Rockin Rollers, and they competed in 2014 A Skate Odyssey. Their last game was a nailbiting 137-133 defeat to Kallio in November.
The teams have met once before, with Glasgow taking a 208-149 win in November 2012. Flat Track Stats gives a 96% probability of a Glasgow victory with a ratio of 47:19 in the European rankings, and a 95% probability of a Glasgow win with a ratio of 39:17 in the UKRDA rankings. This will be a sanctioned UKRDA game.
In the second game, hosts Tiger Bay Brawlers face Rainy City Roller Girls.
Ranked 10th in Europe and 3rd in UKRDA, the Bombers won 7 out of 13 games in 2014, including European and Stateside trips to compete in the WET and ECDX tournaments (they were unbeaten at ECDX). Their season included victories over Central City and Glasgow. Their last game, at WET, was a defeat to Crime City by 290-162.
Rainy City are ranked 11th in Europe and 4th in UKRDA. With a winning record of 10 out of 16 games in 2014, their season included victories in the WET and Skate Odyssey tournaments. During the year, they posted victories over Newcastle, Royal Windsor, Oslo and Copenhagen. They have already played in 2015, with a 155-131 defeat to Kallio in January.
The teams have never met before. Flat Track Stats tips a Tiger Bay victory at 72%, with a ratio of 9:7 in the European rankings, and Tiger Bay with an 85% chance in the UKRDA rankings, with a 30:19 ratio. This will be a UKRDA sanctioned game

The British Roller Derby Championships is Europe’s largest interleague Women’s and Men’s Flat Track Roller Derby Tournament. 72 women’s leagues from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are divided into four tiers for double header bout days spanning the year, with a playoffs to find who will be British Roller Derby Champions for 2015! For the first time, 14 men’s teams will also participate in the debut men’s British Championships tournament, with three tiers of double header action across the year!
