Manchester Roller Derby ready for Brighton challenge

Fresh from their recent victory over local rivals Liverpool Roller Birds, Manchester Roller Derby’s CheckerBroads are set to face Brighton Rockers at home on Saturday 22 November.

The Sussex side, considered one of the strongest derby outfits in the south, travel to Manchester in a buoyant mood off the back of their comprehensive victory over Portsmouth a fortnight ago.

The Rockers, who face a 500 mile round-trip to the George Carnell Centre, present a significant threat to the Broads’  recent winning streak.  In what is set to be a stern test for the Mancunians, Brighton, who sit a comfortable 9 places above MRD in the UK rankings, will bring a strong squad to M34 keen to notch a key away victory to close the year.

Fans will also get to see Manchester’s Men’s A-Team New Wheeled Order take on the specially assembled super-team of skaters Boy Division. This one-off bout will help the boys raise funds for their scheduled American tour in 2015 where NWO will get to take on some of the world’s best Men’s roller derby teams.
