EUGENE, OR–The Drive By City Rollers from Los Angeles battled the Uinta Madness from Salt Lake City at The Big O in on Friday at 4pm in a competitive, exciting but unsanctioned game. De-spite being penalty heavy late in the game the Drive By City Rollers dominated with a win against the Uinta Madness, 240-171.
The first jam was scoreless but Tricky Ricardo jamming for Drive By City Rollers put them on a the board with a 5-0 second jam for the game. However, Uinta answered with 4-0 jam by Milk Toast Boy to get them on the board, with points marked by an eruption of noise from the rowdy Utah fans. A lot of pushing and shoving off the line resulted in a cutting penalty and a power jam for Drive By jammer Tricky Ricardo that brought the previously tied score to 34-15. After being held scoreless for the next 10 minutes Uinta turned the tide through Uel Lose turned the briefly to make it 63-35 with 7 minutes left in the first half. Again it was Uel Lose who brought Uinta closer when he capitalized on a power jam, putting up 21 points just before halftime to leave Drive By leading 94-63.
A penalty heavy second half for both teams kept the score dynamic. MilkToast Boy (Uinta jammer) was fierce on the track–and an 18 point jam from him made the deficit less than 10, at 98-89. The fast paced packs and jammer fatigue seemed to contribute to an increase in penalties for both teams. Multiple power jams for Drive By were accompanied by mostly passive offense resulted in a 162-98 lead. That trend continued until 3 minutes left in the game when Uinta jammer, Uel Lose had another big jam just before he fouled out of the game, bringing the score to 240-162 as he left the field of play. One final power jam for Uinta brought the final score to 240-171.
Uinta Madness goes on to play Deep Valley Saturday at 6:45pm and Drive By City Rollers take on Capital City on Sunday at 4:30pm.
