Detroit Wins Division 2 Playoffs in Duluth

At the end of a weekend packed with upsets and fiercely competitive games that came down to the last jam, the Detroit Derby Girls, of Detroit, Michigan, emerged on top of the 10 Division 2 teams competing in Duluth, Minnesota, Aug. 15-17.

Detroit took home the 1st Place trophy from the international 2014 WFTDA Division 2 Playoffs Duluth, one of two Division 2 Playoffs. They will advance to the international 2014 WFTDA Championships in Nashville, Tennessee, this November to compete for the title of Division 2 Champions.

Ten more teams will compete for the chance to challenge Detroit at the next round of D2 Playoffs, Aug. 22-24 in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

The Fabulous Sin City Rollergirls, of Las Vegas, Nevada, placed second in the Duluth Playoffs and also will be headed to Nashville to play in the D2 Third Place game.

Detroit’s Racer McChaseHer was named tournament MVP.

The Duluth Playoffs weekend showcased the talents of the top Division 2 teams in games that often had the crowds on their feet cheering as the skaters fought through the last jam.

6th Place - Suburbia Roller Derby (9 seed)
7th Place - Brewcity Bruisers (4 seed)
8th Place - Brandywine Roller Girls (10 seed)
9th Place - Omaha Rollergirls (7 seed)
10th Place - Tucson Roller Derby (6 seed)
