Dallas Derby Devils Present Game 1: Season Opener
Saturday, March 3, 2007: The Dallas Derby Devils proudly present the 2007 season opening bout, in Grand Prairie, Texas. Since their 2006 season ended in August, the Devils have been painstakingly hitting the track in preparation for this year’s nine game season. This year brings some surprises with the introduction of the newest team, The Death Row Rumblers, as well as numerous rookie skaters on all five teams. Last year, the High Seas Hotties gained the lead as the number one team in the Dallas Derby Devils, but this year any team could steal their crown. Will the Slaughterers hold a grudge against the Hotties for defeating them during the 2006 Championship? Will the Suicide Shifters step up their game and prove they deserve victory? This will be the most action-packed Saturday night EVER!
The competition will take place on March 3, 2007 at Forum Roller World (1900 S Great Southwest Pkwy. Grand Prairie,) and doors open at 8:30pm with the skating starting at 9:00pm. The Devils expect another capacity crowd. This bout will sell-out, get your tickets to this PG-13 event in advance for only $12 on our website (www.derbydevils.com) through Pay-Pal, or through your favorite DDD skater. If available, tickets at the door will be $15, kids 12 and under are free. As usual, feel free to BYOB, but no glass containers are allowed.
To start off the night, The Suicide Shifters will take on the Death Row Rumblers. This will be the first time either team has played against each other, so neither knows what to expect. Both have brand new skaters and new captains for this 2007 season. The second game of the evening pits the aggressive skating Slaughterers against the lighting fast Wrecking Crew. While the Wrecking Crew has gained some awesome new talent, the Slaughterers have a strong roster of seasoned skaters. A special performance by local rock legends, The Deaf Pedestrians and The Mad Mexicans ensures the action never stops.
A portion of proceeds from Game 1: Season Opener will benefit The Open Doors Foundation. This charity is committed to opening minds, unlocking hearts, and changing lives of “young America”. The foundation is a non-profit corporation supporting other organizations and programs, which provide educational, motivational, financial, and leadership empowerment services to today’s youth. During their off season, the Dallas Derby Devils were busy hosting inter-league games with other flat track leagues from all over the country and preparing for the 2007 Western Conference Championship, “The Dust Devil” held in Tucson, Arizona on February 16-18, 2007. The DDD Travel Team made up of the best of the best will go head to head with top ranked Kansas City Roller Warriors, in a tournament style game with twelve other derby leagues from west of the Mississippi River.
