Bout II recap and Bout III preview – FROM THE TRACK WITH LOVE!!

FOLLOW:

In the second bout of the season on April 22nd, ACRD’s two veteran teams
went head to head, fighting for the win of the night’s first game. The
First Ladies of roller derby, the Deadly Kennedys, with the first win of
the season under their belt, returned to the track with a vengeance to
take on last season’s undefeated champions, Lone Star Assassins. Then,
in the night’s second game, the league’s newest team, the Bombshell
Brigade, walked away with their first win in a controversial, but
crowd-pleasing bout against La Revolucion.

The first half of the DKs vs. LSA game was nail-bitingly close, with the
Deadly Kennedys being up by only 10 points at 38-28. DKs Captain Muff
Thumper opened the second half with fierce determination and a nine-point
jam, followed up by a six-point jam from DK Goldie Schlager, and then
followed by five-point jam from Co-Captain June Meat Cleaver. Choko Ono
also added 18 points to the DKs’ tally. While the Lone Star Assassins
played a mighty game, with Mia Hammer and Threata Garbo scoring 12 points
each, and Kernal Angus scoring 11 points, the relentless DKs’ four
jammer rotation proved a bit too much for the LSAs to handle, and, with a
93-51 win, the Deadly Kennedys shattered the Lone Star Assassins’
undefeated streak. In the second game of the night, the newest team of the league, the
Bombshell Brigade, took home their first victory ever 74-54 over the fresh
roster of La Revolucion. The tough, defensive La Revs kept a steady lead
over the BB’s throughout the entire first half of the tight,
teeth-clenching game. However, in a whirlwind power play, Wendy O. Wheels
unleashed a brutal seven-point jam to open up the second half, and earned
the Bombshells the lead. Harassiz Mine followed with eight points, and on
the ninth jam of the final period, Vanna Rockin’ scored 8 more points,
cinching the victory for the Bombshell Brigade, despite La Revolucion’s
best efforts, including Jackie O’Nice Ass’s 19 points, Athena Monster’s 16
points, Pyro Maim Ya’s 15 points, and Rota Fury’s blocking fury.
